About this artwork
I poured my energy and curiosity into shaping this sculpture, crafted from stoneware and porcelani to embody transformation and resilience. Its textured, open form captures the tension between fragility and strength, inviting light and shadow to dance within its hollow core.
The inspiration for this work is the human body, with its skeletal structure and tissues. Scale can shape context. A highly magnified body fragment reveals an extraordinary… microcosm of cells and structures, as if our organism lived its own life, creating a cosmos unto itself. And yet we are a whole, a microcosm within another, larger world.
In this context, the bone cross-section can be elevated to the status of an abstract, biomorphic contemporary sculpture.

Born in Poland, Agnieszka Borkowsska is a ceramic artist with an extensive grounding in painting.
