About this artwork
Everyone knows Abbey Road. The image of the crossing, the four of them walking single file. It's one of the most iconic photographs in history.
And that's precisely why I couldn't do it.
When I started thinking about how to represent the Beatles, what obsessed me was the way they moved through the world: never where you were supposed to go, never within the boundaries, always going off the beaten path. Jaywalk means crossing where you shouldn't.… That's the Beatles.
So I divided the painting in a wild, organic way. An explosion of color—their outfits, the background—all mixed together, as if psychedelia had taken over the canvas. There's no correct geometry here. There's freedom.
It's the largest horizontal piece in the collection, and also the most chaotic. In a good way.
And that's precisely why I couldn't do it.

Alan Durst (Mexico, 1997) is a contemporary artist based in Madrid and founder of the Durst Lab studio. An architect by training and a painter by vocation, his work starts from geometric structure to open up towards the organic, the emotional and the narrative.
His compositions combine layers of color that expand from a center with small, hyperrealistic human figures. This tension between the monumental and the intimate is at the heart of his language: the scale of the epic measured in human bodies.
Influenced by music, pop culture and architecture, he translates sound moments and cultural atmospheres into visual experiences where rhythm, light and color function as emotional vehicles.
In less than three years he has sold more than 40 original works and has developed solo exhibitions in Madrid and self-managed immersive projects such as Golden Hour (2025)
