About this artwork
Inspired by Zen aesthetics and my sailing journeys along the Río de la Plata, this series marks a return to monochrome, reducing the landscape to its most essential structure. Like Zen calligraphy, each stroke is a unique and unrepeatable moment, a meditative pause where form and formlessness coexist in harmony. Here, emptiness does not signify absence, but infinite potential.

Alejandra Repetto Escardó is a Río de la Plata–based artist working at the intersection of geometric abstraction and contemplative inquiry. Through painting and photography, she explores the persistence of the sacred in contemporary art, approaching geometry not as a closed system but as a symbolic structure that activates perception.
Her practice engages the constructive legacy of Joaquín Torres García and Zen Buddhist thought, understanding emptiness as an active field of energy rather than absence. Synthesising geometric language, landscape, and archetypal form, her work questions how the gaze is culturally constructed.
Through subtle monochromes, high tonal palettes, and restrained use of gold, she creates perceptual thresholds where silence, structure, and void converge.
