These works are created with acrylic paints spread over a gessoed surface, creating a bas-relief effect. I collaged a woven piece of natural wood dyed gold. The painting thus has a textured consistency that captures and reflects light, as well as being evocative to the touch. I like to think of them as three-dimensional works, with a sense of depth. The wood evokes the idea of nature and the primary… natural elements that can save us, but also of the cross as a symbol of the sacrifice of love, the only sacrifice that can save us.
The meaning is my reflection on the concept of "HOPE." Never before in this historical period have we needed hope and love to save ourselves and the world...
