When I first discovered this driftwood tree, most of it was still buried beneath the sand. Five years later, the ocean had revealed its full form—weathered, sculptural, and quietly majestic. I returned to it again and again, waiting for the right light, drawn to the way it seemed both fragile and timeless… at once. This image is one of my personal favorites.
Driftwood carries the mysteries of long journeys. Shaped by storms, tides, and unseen currents, it arrives in a new place without a map, finds temporary belonging, and waits for whatever comes next. Solace reflects that in-between state—the sense of having traveled far, of resting for a moment, yet always being part of the ocean’s story. Its future is unknown: will it remain, or will the sea carry it onward again? That uncertainty is part of its beauty.

Alexia Rousse
Canada
Alexia Rousse is an accomplished fine-art nature photographer, trained under Peter Lik, devoted to capturing the Earth exactly as it is — radiant, powerful, and inherently perfect.
Her work is not an attempt to reinterpret nature, distort it, or impose a narrative upon it. Instead, she approaches each landscape, tree, shoreline, and living subject with deep respect, allowing them to speak for themselves. The Earth does not require reinterpretation to be meaningful, it is already complete, already beautiful, already extraordinary.
From sweeping horizons to intimate natural moments, Alexia’s photography is guided by one intention: to remind people of the true beauty that surrounds us. Through large-scale, luminous prints, she brings nature into our personal spaces, creating daily encounters with stillness, awe, and connection.
Her mission is simple yet profound — to strengthen humanity’s relationship with the natural world by honouring it as it is.
