About this artwork
"VOID" is a contemporary watercolor, exhibited at "AURA", and was presented as follows:
“VOID” is the word that appears on holographic seals (found on some products) when an attempt is made to tamper with them, indicating that the product has been damaged in some way and has lost some value, such as the warranty, or that it is a counterfeit. This idea, applied to artistic creation, has served as a basis for me to give visibility to the concept of… “aura” described by Walter Benjamin. In his work, Benjamin sets out to write his publications, starting with a holographic “VOID” as the title: The original work of art will lose its aura with successive reproductions and manipulations.
Giving importance to that idea, the work is made, almost entirely, with "anti-copy" pigments, emphasizing the determination of his rejection of everything that diminishes that unique spirit that the work has, which he calls aura, rejecting everything that invalidates it.

Alfonso Martín primarily uses watercolor and acrylic, merging his art training with his experience as an industrial design engineer. His figurative works possess touches of abstraction thanks to the fluidity of the water, exploring light, atmosphere, and unique textures with a rapid and experimental gestural style. Each painting radiates energy, is luminous, and seeks to move the viewer, captivating them in an intimate atmosphere full of emotion and narrative.
