Lover’s Poem is a large-scale handmade paper work created from recycled and reclaimed paper materials, mounted on wood. Rather than using added pigment, the composition draws its color naturally from previously printed and discarded paper, allowing the material itself to become part of the visual language of the piece.
Embedded organic elements, subtle line work, and layered textures evoke themes of memory, intimacy, fragility, and connection. The… contrasting fields of pale neutral tones and deep rose color create a quiet tension between softness and structure, while the handmade surface preserves the tactile evidence of transformation and time.
Rooted in sustainability and a deeply physical making process, the work reflects my ongoing exploration of the emotional and poetic relationships between humanity, nature, and material reuse.
Amy Vialpando, a painter, sculptor, and visual artist with a BFA in Design from the University of Wyoming, works with pen and ink, paint, plaster, and especially richly textured handmade paper crafted from recycled materials. Her style marries organic abstraction with intricate detail, reflecting a commitment to environmentally conscious techniques. Each of her pieces invites viewers into a space of wonder and spiritual connection, illuminating the beauty and complexity of the natural world with heartfelt reverence.
