About this artwork
In "Corteggiamento," Andrea Benetti explores the ancestral ritual of romantic encounter with subtle irony and profound sensitivity, translating it into a visual language that blends the archaic and the contemporary. Stylized figures chase and confront one another in a space punctuated by essential signs and universal symbols, where the pictorial gesture becomes narrative. The textured, etched plaster base accommodates oil-based and oxide pigments… that construct warm, pulsating fields of color, evoking a palpable emotional tension. The movement of the forms suggests a silent dance, made of waiting, approaching, and distancing. The hearts, arrows, and biomorphic symbols scattered across the surface are not mere ornaments, but structural elements of a tale rooted in collective memory. With this work, Benetti succeeds in giving voice to the universality of desire, transforming courtship into a metaphor for the human search for connection and recognition.
« The painting of the future was born in caves, since art has always been the most fascinating medium with which matter depicts the spirit. »
