About this artwork
In Grecale, Andrea Benetti explores the symbolism of the wind as an invisible and generative force. The work, created on a plaster bas-relief, presents geometric shapes united by fluid black lines and white arrows that guide their dynamism. The central, polygonal nucleus seems to be the point of origin of the creative impulse, from which trajectories radiate towards peripheral elements, evoking a ritual map. The colors — green, ochre, slate, earth…
— recall the nuances of the Mediterranean landscape and organic matter. The composition is dominated by a dynamic balance between abstraction and story, where each shape takes on a symbolic value, like a relic of an ancient and forgotten alphabet. Andrea Benetti draws on the primordial language of Neo-Rock art, translating it into a contemporary key. Grecale does not depict, but evokes: it is a diagram of the invisible, a pictorial meditation on the energy that unites and transforms the world.

Andrea Benetti is the author of the Manifesto of Neo-Rock Art, presented at the 53rd Venice Biennale. His works have been acquired by international art collections and museums (United Nations, Vatican, Quirinale, Chamber of Deputies, etc.). Several universities have conducted graduate research on his art. He has collaborated with many universities to organize exhibitions and seminars on Neo-Rock Painting (Universities of Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Ferrara, Johns Hopkins University, Lecce, Messina, Roma Tre, and Venice). In 2020, he won the "Nettuno d'Oro" Award from the city of Bologna. His biography appears in major encyclopedias, including Treccani, De Agostini, and WikiArt, and is translated into 45 languages on Wikipedia.
