About this artwork
In “Mareggiata”, Andrea Benetti translates the fluid and incessant energy of the sea into visual form, filtering it through his own symbolic and Neo-Cave language. The biomorphic forms, connected by sinuous and continuous lines, seem to float on a material background that recalls the foam and the movement of the waves. The use of the plaster bas-relief gives tactile and visual depth, while the application of oil and oxides accentuates the alternation… between light and shadow, between full and empty. The geometric elements, arranged with an almost musical balance, evoke marine organisms, traces of primordial life or signals coded in an archaic alphabet. In this composition, the storm is not only a natural event, but a metaphor for existential restlessness and inner motion. The work thus returns a poetic and dynamic vision, in which the memory of the past and the primordial force of nature merge in a hypnotic and harmonious visual rhythm, deeply evocative.
« The painting of the future was born in caves, since art has always been the most fascinating medium with which matter depicts the spirit. »
