About this artwork
In Primordi, Andrea Benetti takes an artistic journey to the origins of humanity, evoking the primordial essence of the sign and visual communication. The work presents itself as a sort of "skin of memory", an irregular, lived-in surface that recalls the walls of the caves in which our ancestors traced the first visual testimonies of their existence.
Through a symbolic composition that explicitly recalls cave painting, Benetti revisits the archetypal… language of humanity with contemporary sensitivity. Stylized figures, spirals, totemic signs and abstract forms emerge from a material base rich in earthy nuances, evoking not only the instinctive gestures of prehistoric man, but also his need to give meaning to the world through representation.
The chromatic palette, dominated by ochre, brown and chalky tones, strengthens the bond with the natural elements and with the deep time of human history.
« The painting of the future was born in caves, since art has always been the most fascinating medium with which matter depicts the spirit. »
