About this artwork
"Man and Horse" is a work created on Montesanto paper with a mixed technique that uses charcoal, sanguine, sepia and white chalk. The image strongly recalls a prehistoric hunting scene, where man and animal are at the centre of an archaic narrative, full of symbols and vital tension. The great human protagonist, outlined with an almost ritual force, guides the gaze towards the horse, an elegant and powerful creature, immersed in a tangle of signs…
and textures that evoke dynamics of struggle, movement and sacredness. The work is not only representation, but becomes evocation: a visual fragment that recalls the collective memory of humanity, when survival was linked to a deep connection with nature and its spirits. In this archaic tension, painting becomes story, ritual and memory.

Andrea Benetti is the author of the Manifesto of Neo-Rock Art, presented at the 53rd Venice Biennale. His works have been acquired by international art collections and museums (United Nations, Vatican, Quirinale, Chamber of Deputies, etc.). Several universities have conducted graduate research on his art. He has collaborated with many universities to organize exhibitions and seminars on Neo-Rock Painting (Universities of Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Ferrara, Johns Hopkins University, Lecce, Messina, Roma Tre, and Venice). In 2020, he won the "Nettuno d'Oro" Award from the city of Bologna. His biography appears in major encyclopedias, including Treccani, De Agostini, and WikiArt, and is translated into 45 languages on Wikipedia.
