About this artwork
"Shamanic Dance" is a work that has its roots in the most remote memory of humanity. Made on fine Montesanto paper, using a mixed technique - charcoal, sanguine, sepia and white chalk - this composition recalls the primitive aesthetics of cave paintings, visually evoking a ritual scene of tribal dance. The stylized figures, engraved and traced with an archaic gesture, seem to move in a circle of mystical connection, in which the body becomes a sacred…

The work is not limited to a simple archetypal evocation: it is, rather, an act of spiritual continuity between past and present, between gesture and vision, between sign and meaning. The earthy atmosphere and the symbolic vortices that cross the surface suggest a timeless time, in which the shamanic rite becomes a universal language, shared experience and collective spirituality.

Andrea Benetti is the author of the Manifesto of Neo-Rock Art, presented at the 53rd Venice Biennale. His works have been acquired by international art collections and museums (United Nations, Vatican, Quirinale, Chamber of Deputies, etc.). Several universities have conducted graduate research on his art. He has collaborated with many universities to organize exhibitions and seminars on Neo-Rock Painting (Universities of Bari, Bergamo, Bologna, Ferrara, Johns Hopkins University, Lecce, Messina, Roma Tre, and Venice). In 2020, he won the "Nettuno d'Oro" Award from the city of Bologna. His biography appears in major encyclopedias, including Treccani, De Agostini, and WikiArt, and is translated into 45 languages on Wikipedia.
