About this artwork
This black and white photograph was taken in the early morning hours at Tumpak Sewu Waterfall in Java, a place of almost surreal beauty.
As the sun rose over the horizon, it illuminated the water behind the dark rocks. Fine wisps of mist settled like a veil over the waterfall, while individual fern fronds were caught by the first light of dawn.
My goal was to capture the depth of the waterfall, the unique play of light, and the contrast between… tropical vegetation, rock, and water. For a brief moment, these elements merged to create a unique and almost surreal scene.
Photography reflects my fascination with the power of nature and the transience of special moments.
