About this artwork
"Vanishing in the Fog of Time" was inspired by Goethe's approval (Faust Part I), but reverses the content quintessence to the contrary: while Goethe refers to the fragments that have been waiting for years to complete and which have already outlined the subject of Faust, Garbe contributes to grave this work since the beginning of its artistic activity. The abstract compositions are characterized by three or more arches in the center and have repeatedly… been part of his work between 2003 and 2011 in various versions. After consistently changing his style and way of working from 2012, he gradually took on older works in this series and adapted them to his new way of working - without completely denying the original concept.
With countless transparent layers worked on top of each other, the work actually looks as if the arches behind these layers are gradually disappearing.
« Art that fascinates me is often like a symbiosis of philosophical magic and good craft. »
Andreas Garbe is an artist based in Germany whose paintings have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Switzerland. Working abstractly with figurative and representational influences, his diverse compositions are both atmospheric and philosophical. In addition, Garbe explores themes relating to social issues, literature, meditation, and sensory perception. His landscapes, figurative pieces and abstractions are created using acrylics, oils, and resin on canvas.
