About this artwork
Andreas Garbe discovered the power of meditation for himself at the end of the 2010s - and it changed his quality of life so fundamentally that it inevitably influenced his painting as a theme. Inspired by Rothko's color field paintings, he has since created abstract works based on the glaze technique, which give the viewer visual access to aspects of spiritual immersion.
The representation opens up a view into an exclusively mentally accessible… dimension, which still harbors unexplored potential. It can be called up in the meditative process of every human individual in front of the inner eye. Ideally, it is free of any form and terminology, only colors assigned to Tibetan mantras are visualized.
The depth effect of the approximately 15 layers of glaze and the resulting look give the painting an exciting depth effect on closer inspection.
