About this artwork
A river of sky blue meanders like a gentle thought through a golden meadow, its light casting warm strokes across the landscape. On either side, trees stand watch in glowing red – as if they have captured the fire of early autumn in their crowns. Beyond, a sea of green whispers, still and soft, as if it wants to carry the color far into the distance.
Above it all arches a sky painted in violet and delicate lilac tones, a sky that is not just weather,… but mood – a hovering between dream and twilight. The scene feels like a place one doesn't find, but remembers: peaceful, luminous, full of subtle movement.
This image is a walk through a landscape that is not bound by reality, but by longing.
Andreas Hornbogen works primarily with oil painting and woodcut, drawing on his solid training as a master student and a deep connection to traditional craftsmanship. He combines influences from realism, impressionism, expressionism, and surrealism with constantly shifting perspectives and light-filled compositions. In his works, he interweaves figurative and abstract elements to explore layers of memory, time, and existence. His art resonates through its poetic stillness, existential fragility, and the palpable struggle for balance between humanity, nature, and society.
