Sotto Costo is a work that denounces the undervalued value of truth in a society dominated by economic power and appearance.
At the center of the scene, a female figure with a calm but silent look. On her forehead, the word "TRUTH" - the truth - branded like an indelible label. But her mouth is closed by a zipper, a symbol of censorship, self-censorship or, perhaps, corruption.
With one hand she holds a black rose, the flower of mourning and rebellion,… while in the other she holds a sack with the symbol of money. Her body, marked by floral tattoos and pierced hearts, tells a story of wounds, illusions and compromises.
The work suggests that truth today no longer has a fair price, but is put “below cost”, sold off, bartered for money, silenced behind convenience and interests.
A modern icon of moral compromise, which invites the viewer to ask: how much is the truth really worth?
ANDSAL born in Italy in '91, uses pictorial and digital techniques, combining acrylic, oil, giclée print and street art. Adopting a contemporary approach to surrealism and symbolism, he embellishes his work with pop culture references and emotional intensity. In each of his creations, Di Martino seeks to evoke powerful emotions, oscillating between reality and the symbolic, inviting reflection and imagination.
