About this artwork
With the vibrant and rapid use of acrylic, I have brought my vision to life through the style of expressionism, with touches of figurative and pop art. This work represents the second of a small series of works on paper that I have titled "Swimming pool" where I explore the complexity of the female figure, trapped between surface and depth.
The contrasting tones and thoughtful pose of the figure amplify the introspection and emotional complexity,… in contrast with the rapid brushstroke that seeks the superficial expression of the subject, transmitting a sense of melancholy but also of hope. This painting, with its bold expressiveness, invites contemplation and dialogue in any space in which it will be hosted.
The work is made with acrylic paint on stage paper and is hand signed.
I attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, and after exploring the world of graphic design, I decided to move to Dublin, where for a decade I forgot I was an artist. A chance encounter with a group of young rappers from the city's underground scene reawakened my passion and need to create art. It was 2015, and at that moment, "Anguilla," my artistic essence, was born (re)born. The art I make is figurative and mixes pop art and surrealism. For me, making art is connecting with another dimension, a glimpse under the blanket of the sky, going beyond the limits of our senses. For more information, visit my website: anguillaink.com
