About this artwork
With the vibrant and rapid use of acrylic, I have brought my vision to life through the style of expressionism, with touches of figurative and pop art. This work represents the third of a small series of works on paper in sequence that I have titled "Swimming pool", where I explore the complexity of the woman, trapped between surface and depth.
The contrasting tones seek introspection and emotional complexity even where one would not expect it,… the rapid brushstroke seeks the superficial expression of the subject, the contrasting colors convey a sense of melancholy, mixing heaviness and lightness. This work, with its bold expressiveness, invites contemplation and dialogue in every space in which it will be hosted.
The work is made with acrylic paint on stage paper and is hand signed.
I attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna, and after exploring the world of graphic design, I decided to move to Dublin, where for a decade I forgot I was an artist. A chance encounter with a group of young rappers from the city's underground scene reawakened my passion and need to create art. It was 2015, and at that moment, "Anguilla," my artistic essence, was born (re)born. The art I make is figurative and mixes pop art and surrealism. For me, making art is connecting with another dimension, a glimpse under the blanket of the sky, going beyond the limits of our senses. For more information, visit my website: anguillaink.com
