“Dreamland” is a multi-layered textile mixed-media work that oscillates between memory, dream and fragment.
Delicate shades of rose and silver create a shimmering space where textile structures, hand-embroidered elements, and collaged fragments meet. Ornaments, fine lines, and dense areas of material appear like traces of an inner image – fleeting yet palpably present.
The interplay of transparency and density lends the work a special depth.… Areas seem to emerge and disappear again, as if one were looking through layers of memory or dreamscapes.
“Dreamland” invites the viewer to pause and engage with the subtle nuances. It is a painting that is not loud, but unfolds gradually – sensitive, multifaceted, and open to personal associations.
Anke Pradel-Schönknecht uses textile materials as well as painting, collage, and mixed media – her creative path led her from classical painting through studies in textile and surface design to experimental textile art. With sophisticated techniques such as dyeing, printing, sewing, and layering diverse materials, she creates three-dimensional relief images and art quilts that combine tactile and visual stimuli. Her artworks convey curiosity, sensuality, and a captivating depth; they invite viewers to understand structures not only visually but also emotionally.
