About this artwork
I was inspired by Athena Lemnia, a sculpture by the great Phidias. I wanted to capture a moment suspended in time, where the tension between reason and desire manifests itself in the silent geography of the statues' faces. The apple, a symbol of temptation, contrasts with the imperturbable coldness of the bust, creating a visual short circuit: it is the only living and colorful element. art and the transience of life: the marble cannot eat the apple. The facial expression is serious, thoughtful, enigmatic; it is not a triumphant goddess but a knowing and introspective one. Phidias's eternal marble encounters the rotting fruit.
