About this artwork
The painting features two incomplete human figures, faceless and with limbs visible, making them more universal and symbolic of humanity or the soul, rather than individual portraits. The two figures mirror each other and face each other, as if about to touch or dance in fluid motion. My intention is to evoke in the viewer a need to seek the other, to connect, to meet, to reciprocity, to harmony. I chose a color palette that would make the bodies… pop as much as possible, making them stand out against an abstract and dynamic background composed of a mix of Payne's gray, ultramarine blue, magenta, gold details, and metallic pigments. With this combination, I sought to recreate an almost dreamlike and ethereal atmosphere by contrasting the softness of the bodies with the energy of the background. Depth and movement are also conveyed by the visible brushstrokes and the use of the palette knife.
Anna Carrarini, a painter passionate about drawing and painting, trained both self-taught and through courses with renowned masters, such as Francesco Vaglica, continuing her training in art studios. She primarily uses oil on canvas, pastels, and watercolors, and experiments with brushes, palette knives, and other tools, paying close attention to color. Her works, blending classical themes with dreamlike symbolism, evoke profound emotions, leading the viewer on a journey of personal exploration and inner harmony.
