About this artwork
In this painting, I sought to capture the boundless essence and vibrant tranquility of the ocean. Using acrylics and little glass beads, I played with textures and hues to evoke the dynamic contrast between the lush, rugged landmasses and the serene, expansive sea. This piece resonates with a spirit of adventure and peace, inviting a fresh, invigorating energy into any living space. It's meant to ignite a deep, contemplative passion for the natural… world within its viewers.
Because the environment has been my focus, my thought has been to ask how aerial views change over time. My assumption is the effects of climate change would be most visible in looking at coastlines. It is my hope to revisit this series in several years, with new imagery and data. Unfortunately it may show the ravages of time.
This painting is done in shades of blue, green, & yellow. It is textured with little beads of glass, causing portions of the image to shine depending on how the light filters through.
« I think art is a way in. It is an equalizer, no matter where you come from, or what language you speak. Now, more than ever, we must recognize that inter-connectedness. »
Anne Cherubim is an artist based in the United States whose paintings have been featured in several solo and group exhibitions nationally. Her works explore themes relating to the environment and stewardship of the planet. However, Cherubim is also fascinated by the essence of a place, rather than a perfect rendering. She favors bold acrylic colors in her creative process.
