About this artwork
From the Aerial Inspired series, this painting is inspired by some intriguing aerial imagery Anne came across and just needed to know more about. It turned out that she was looking at aerial views of salt baths. These blue, undulating scenes captured her imagination. Much like her metallic paintings, they are dynamic and ever-changing, as the sky, lighting, or surroundings change what is being reflected in these pools of water.
Metallic paint causes… the image to appear differently depending on how the light changes, or where a viewer is standing.
My current series of paintings is inspired by aerial views, satellite imagery, and the cosmos. Featuring abstract, textural canvases, the paintings depict imagined spaces inspired by real life imagery. Because the environment has been a focus, my natural thoughts have been to ask how aerial views change over time. My assumption is the effects of climate change would be most visible in looking at coastlines.
« I think art is a way in. It is an equalizer, no matter where you come from, or what language you speak. Now, more than ever, we must recognize that inter-connectedness. »
Anne Cherubim is an artist based in the United States whose paintings have been featured in several solo and group exhibitions nationally. Her works explore themes relating to the environment and stewardship of the planet. However, Cherubim is also fascinated by the essence of a place, rather than a perfect rendering. She favors bold acrylic colors in her creative process.
