About this artwork
This painting is part of the blue series. In this series, she pays tribute to Matisse's blue collage series and Klein's creation of his own blue. The hue she uses is her own, she creates it by combining different blue shades with a hint of white and purple. No blue painting has exactly the same shade of blue. In this particular painting, she wanted to represent the way yoga helps her find peace in the morning. As a surfer, she has gotten to enjoy… practicing yoga as a complement to her time in the water. Since a yoga surf retreat in the Maldives in 2018, she has been practicing yoga daily as a way to start herday. This painting mixes the yoga shoulder stand pose with her love for the ocean. The subject is floating in an upside down ecstasy. The original sketch for this painting was drawn above the Atlantic Ocean, on a flight between her hometown of Biarritz to her new home of Miami. Anecdotically, the zigzagged shapes are taken from the chewing gum wrapper that was on her plane tray.
« Colors and shapes flow like music out of my mind. They resonate with love, joy, peace, and self-acceptance. »
