About this artwork
This painting is part of the blue series. In this series, I pay tribute to Matisse's blue collage series and Klein's creation of his own blue. The hue I use is my own, I create it by combining different blue shades with a hint of white and purple. This particular scene represents freedom and acceptance of one's body. The naiads are sea creatures playing underwater. In this piece, they let go of all inhibitions, removing layers of clothes and frolicking…
in the sea. The bathing suits have turned into abstract snake-like shapes, reminding us Eves before they got cast away from the Garden of Eden.
