About this artwork
In the flower pictures I try to bring out the special features of the blossoms. A particular challenge is translating the small blossoms to the size of the canvas.
The iris 'Black Night' is a fascinating beauty with mysterious flowers. It makes a spectacular appearance in spring. Its dark purple to almost black flowers give the plant a mysterious aura.
The image was inspired by an iris that blooms in my garden. I was fascinated by the color,… its velvety character and its striking, distinctive appearance against the other green plants.
