About this artwork
In my flower paintings, I try to bring out the special characteristics of the blossoms. A particular challenge is translating the small blossoms to the size of the canvas.
This cheerful "Rainbow Marcella" coneflower lives up to its name! The large blooms shimmer in the most beautiful shades of orange, peach, and raspberry pink, with a hint of violet.
In this painting, I was fascinated by the flower's energetic glow. I added neon accents to my… colors. The paint was applied in several layers with a palette knife.
