In creating this painting, I tried to capture the vibrant essence of a coastal village at sunset, where lights and shadows play on the ancient stones of the alleys and houses. Using oil, I explored the impressionist technique to convey not only the view, but also the palpable atmosphere of a place suspended in time. Antonio Di Viccaro (born in 1935), who studied in Lazio and Tuscany, prefers oil painting on canvas. The artist uses a palette knife technique to vividly spread oil, depicting the nature and beauty of Italy without the use of brushes. His works, imbued with a love for the Amalfi and Sorrento coasts, exude vitality and enthusiasm.
