About this artwork
This piece strongly reminds me of femininity with it´s bold red shades and colours. It´s fragile yet powerful and while I worked on it the idea of the monthly cicle grew stronger on me.
A lot of aspects in this painting resemble the uterus. There is tearing, there is thickness, there is flow, blood, glow. It resembles the powerful dynamic of womanhood in symbolizing empowerment and pain at the same time.
It made me think of my own endometriosis journey… and what it takes to be a woman with a very womany illness that is still so underresearched.
