About this artwork
I present to you the first work in my new series “Beyond Time”.
During my photo trip at the end of April 2016 to a high-altitude alpine pasture (Polonyna) in the Ukrainian Carpathians, we worked under extremely challenging conditions: Although it was late spring, dense mountain fog enveloped the landscape, while snow still lay on the rocks — a deeply mystical, surreal setting.
The work testifies to the astonishing strength and endurance of the… woman who withstood these icy conditions — a devotion that very few people can muster.
The photograph reveals the woman's inner strength behind her delicate grace—in contrast to the rugged, mysterious mountain landscape. It is the first in a series full of magical stillness, blurring the line between reality and illusion and existing completely detached from time.

Arkadiy Kurta is a photographer of Ukrainian descent who, after studying at the Kyiv School of Photography, now lives and works as a photographic artist in Berlin. His work combines classic studio photography with a graphic, emotional black-and-white aesthetic in urban spaces. With a strong focus on fine art nudes, street art nudes, and expressive portraits, he stages bodies and architecture in the interplay of natural light and shadow.
