In this work, I explore presence through the material itself.
The layers of oil remain visible, the skin is built up in successive touches, between the warmth of the base and the intensity of the gaze.
The blue of the gaze comes into tension with the incandescence of the setting, like a cold light in a burnt-out late summer.
This portrait is not smooth: it embraces the trace, the density, the vibration.
