About this artwork
This painting addresses the issue that the human species must wake up and start treating the earth better or we may not have another chance. The black and white checkered paper is the sign for the flag at the "end of the race" and the surroundings can be bleak but the orange collage piece represents that we can stop and pay attention to turn things around, the decision is ours.

« My quest is to create artwork that is beautiful, but more importantly, causes the viewer to consider the conceptual issue addressed in the painting. »
Barb Pearson places importance on expressing aspects that she finds troubling about society through her artworks. The Canadian artist addresses the addiction to social media and its effect on the individual and brings awareness to the negative consequences of our consumption on the environment. As an experimental painter, she creates in a fluid and unpredictable manner. Pearson begins each piece by collating recycled materials, then deconstructs these layers with a power sander.
