About this artwork
I created this work for an event held in a beautiful historic villa near Rome: Villa Mondragone, the site of important events such as the Gregorian calendar reform and scientific experiments by illustrious figures such as Galileo Galilei and Guglielmo Marconi. The theme was chess. Unfamiliar with the subject, I researched it, and a door opened into which I immersed myself. The philosophy of chess explores the game as a metaphor for life. The strategy… inherent in this game reflects principles of thought, ethics, and human behavior. This multidisciplinary approach analyzes the game not only as a pastime, but also as a tool for developing cognitive skills such as analysis, concentration, and memory, and for reflecting on deeper themes such as ethics, responsibility, and identity. All of this piqued my imagination, and I created this surreal painting, which transcends my artistic expression and leaves room for fantasy.
