About this artwork
Wild dogs, sometimes referred to as painted dogs, hunt in packs and use strategy .They are able to communicate with each other amid what looks like chaos to us. They will give chase to the prey and approach from both sides and from the back . They will identify one animal from a herd of springbok for instance and each dog will know which one is the prey. Then out of the noisy speeding chaos one of them will make a move and even if out of eyesight…
all the others will be aware and will move in with a well coordinated attack on one identified prey

Barry Jackson is an experienced artist from South Africa whose bronze sculptures have been exhibited nationally and are held in public collections. He began drawing as a kid and after winning an art competition at the young age of 13 on Zambia TV, Jackson decided to devote his life to art. Portraiture and wildlife are the main themes in his sculptures, and he is often commissioned to create life size public works of famous figures such as Mahatma Gandhi and Louis Van Mauritius.
