About this artwork
In this oil painting, I captured the raw power and relentless energy of industry at night. The realism brings the steam and lights of the train and factory to life, evoking both nostalgia and awe. I wanted to convey the untiring spirit of hard work and the beauty found in machines. Imagine this piece energizing your space, reminding you of perseverance and the quiet strength behind progress.
Having grown up in a mining town on the copper belt in… Zambia and also in South Africa I often witnessed steam trains in the country and the on the mines. I developed a love of these monster vehicles of fire and steel and their sheer strength and power.
They inspired my series of paintings depicting them
