About this artwork
Sometimes inspiration is in a cupboard! This still life started with soft layers of acrylic paint that add a sense of depth.
There’s a dynamic play between the layers beneath and the more distinct, semi-abstracted, elements on top.
It has a dreamlike quality as the viewer fills in the blanks, recognizing elements of everyday life while embracing the abstraction. The colors blend and fade into one another, creating a harmonious backdrop for the semi-abstracted… shapes. The still life aspect is subtly suggested, rather than explicitly detailed. The shapes suggest the silhouette of a vase, a jar, a plate. Not overly defined and purposely a bit crooked. They are strategically placed to evoke the balance and quiet of a still life.
I like to combine painting and drawing in my work.

« I like to play with reality, colors, light, shapes, movements, and transform images. They might appear a little distorted, even if realistic, but I always search for harmony. »
Bea Evers is an artist based in the Netherlands whose paintings have been exhibited nationally and in Italy. While the themes in her works have changed throughout the years, her current pieces are primarily semi-abstract landscapes. Evers describes her art as an invitation to the viewer to feel a sense of spaciousness, while also "giving the eye something to search for". She most often creates using acrylics and charcoal on wood or canvas.
