This ia a frontal view of an approaching elephant herd. Elephant herds protect the little ones by staying together and moving as a group. The elephants often keep the little ones in the middle of the herd, protecting them.
I painted this elephant herd in intense colours to underline the energy of these mighty African animals.
This painting has also symbolic meaning because it underlines the power of moving as a group and of staying and sticking… together. It reminds the viewer of a time when working in a group and staying strong made them stronger.
The limited palette of orange, blue and yellow with white highlights emphasizes the power and positive energy I feel when looking at these animals.
Repetitive shapes create a special and powerful rhythm. The flat fragmented shapes enhance the effect of the bright colours. In the end despite strong value contrasts the artwork evokes a feeling of energetic harmony empowering the viewer.
