About this artwork
This figurative bronze resin sculpture was originally inspired by a small neolithic clay sculpture from Malta , “the Sleeping Lady” - a culture where women seemed to be leaders within their society , in their role of advising priestesses .
I wanted to give the impression of ease, rest and comfort while lying down, safe and settled within one’s body. I experimented with the large mountain-like body contrasted with small hands and feet.
