About this artwork
This bronze figurative sculpture depicts a loving embrace. While the gender details are kept vague to describe the universal nature of the human impulse to give and receive an embrace, the body posture of each participant in the embrace subtly indicates their different attitudes and stance .
One of the huggers is holding himself straight , either being the one that holds slightly back or the one that offers strength through his erect posture… . The second person is more surrendered in her body posture , leaning into her friend/lover , offering trust, seeking closeness, giving warmth.
On this second version of this sculpture, the boundaries between the two bodies, seen from the profile views has been softened, nearly dissolved, to give way to a “shared skin”, and thin sheet that wraps them both up tightly.
