About this artwork
In this work, I found inspiration in the inspiring shapes of packaging fragments. I use a technique I call "drawing by cutting," where I cut shapes out of the packaging and use them like drawing machines. I then draw the outlines and build up the volumes using a sfumato technique with a ballpoint pen. Four colors are enough to create the drawing's color palette. I compose each piece by making the most of the available surface area.

Benoît Dedieu-Anglade, a graduate of the École nationale des arts décoratifs in Paris, blends drawing and sculpture, primarily using ballpoint pens, papier-mâché, and found materials. His technique oscillates between the sheet and three-dimensionality, working with the spontaneity of cut and drawn forms to compose complex and communicative works born from observations of everyday life. In each of his pieces, he conveys a sense of wonder at the mystery of creation and the spontaneous origin of forms, encouraging the viewer to see the seemingly insignificant in a new light.
