About this artwork
Using coffee capsule packaging as a starting point, I make raw use of these inspiring shapes. Cutouts of recycled cardboard serve as what I call drawing machines. These are complemented by other round objects: buttons, bottle caps, plumbing materials. The drawing takes on a three-dimensional form from the cut and traced shapes.

Benoît Dedieu-Anglade, a graduate of the École nationale des arts décoratifs in Paris, blends drawing and sculpture, primarily using ballpoint pens, papier-mâché, and found materials. His technique oscillates between the sheet and three-dimensionality, working with the spontaneity of cut and drawn forms to compose complex and communicative works born from observations of everyday life. In each of his pieces, he conveys a sense of wonder at the mystery of creation and the spontaneous origin of forms, encouraging the viewer to see the seemingly insignificant in a new light.
