About this artwork
From This I Rise is a symbolic self-portrait exploring transformation, identity, and the reclaiming of inner power.
The central figure emerges from darkness and fragmentation, evoking both mythic and contemporary archetypes — part fallen idol, part reborn sovereign. Influenced by ancient Egyptian iconography and the spirit of reinvention embodied by artists like David Bowie, the work reflects the moment when a person steps beyond chaos and reclaims… their own myth.
Graffiti fragments and raw textual elements hint at lived experience, desire, and excess, contrasting with the almost divine stillness of the figure. Out of this tension, something new appears: a sense of self that rises stronger, sharper, and unapologetically sovereign.
Created through layered digital collage combining photography, drawing, and typography, the work invites the viewer to consider transformation not as purification, but as the alchemy of experience.
