About this artwork
This piece of Lace from the Baroque period (probably of italian origin) was found in an antique shop .
The piece would have been from a much longer piece of precious lace used to adorn men's and women's very elaborate costumes. The piece of lace was hand made using plenty of small bundles of thread to create this icredibly complex pattern. Lace was understandably very much a luxury fashion item - highly priced and moved from costume to costume to… create the impression that you could easily afford lace on all your outfits.
The artwork has a small symbol on the front and is signed on the back. Painted on the sides so no frame is needed.
