About this artwork
I have chosen these flowers (irises) because of their spectacular shapes. I bring the colours and light/dark effect to the maximum thanks to a special technique. It was a commission and the client wanted red and in the background greys, whites and blacks. I experimented with a black background to see if it works. A challenge was the size for the composition. Inspiration I get from the Dutch Baroque still lives, the water colours of Emil Nolde, nature…
and all the beauty that surrounds us.
