About this artwork
This painting captures the transformation brought by a summer storm. On a hot July day, the air feels heavy, colors are dull, and everything seems lifeless. Flowers droop, and the grass is dry. Suddenly, dark clouds gather, filling the sky with tension. The wind picks up, swirling dry leaves, and the air becomes charged with anticipation.
Then, the first raindrops fall, creating dark spots on the dusty ground. The storm intensifies, with lightning,… thunder, and rain pouring down in sweeping gusts. Nature drinks it in, as flowers revive and grass stands tall again. The sun breaks through, revealing vibrant colors and glistening leaves, as the storm slowly fades.
Moved by this dramatic renewal, I entered my studio and prepared a large white canvas to capture this powerful moment.
Bettina Zedlitz, a seasoned artist, crafts striking narratives through an intriguing fusion of acrylics and unique elements like coffee, charcoal, and sand. Her vivacious, large-scale works reveal a multi-layered and intuitive approach, where each detail adds depth and luminosity. As she grapples with life's tensions, Zedlitz's art captures an array of moods, from a frosty winter morning's tranquillity to the relief after a summer storm.
