"Focault Pendulum"
At the Griffith Park Observatory in Los Angeles can be found the Focault Pendulum suspended from the rotunda. The 240 lb. bronze ball is suspended by a 40 ft cable that swings in a constant direction as the earth turns beneath it. The pendulum is attached to a bearing in the ceiling that does not turn with the building as it rotates with the earth. A ring magnet mounted in the bearing gives a little tug with each swing to keep… the pendulum in motion. The pendulum completes a rotation every 42 hours (as can be seen in the numbers at the base).
This image will be printed using Archival Inks and Canson Rag Photographique 100% cotton museum grade Fine Art Paper. It offers a unique extra smooth surface with a sensual feel. It also provides one the highest achievable Dmax available, making it ideal for Fine Art images.
