About this artwork
Khadak is offered to gods in Mongolia and Tibet for help. It is a long and narrow piece of cloth that hangs on rocks and stones that are considered sacred. Khadaks are silk and paper of various colors or blue color. Blue Khadak means eternal blue sky among the Mongols. Khadak is a universal gift. The very similar tradition of shamanistic offerings to the Sky Tengri (Sky God) is also maintained in different Muslim communities. These; The Turkic… Republics of Central Asia, Azerbaijan, the Uzbek-Turkmen regions of Afghanistan and the communities in Anatolia. The societies in these regions, just like the belief of the Mongols, believe that by tying pieces of cloth to trees, shrines, rocks, etc., which are believed to be sacred, they will have children, they will be saved from diseases, their fortunes will be opened, they will become rich, they will succeed in exams.
