About this artwork
A young man named Jamshab is left at the bottom of a well because his friends, out of greed, refuse to share the honey they found. There, Jamshab sees and meets Shahmaran. During his time with Shahmaran, Jamshab acquires medical knowledge that no human could possess. A long time passes, and Jamshab grows bored and wants to return home. Shahmaran warns him not to tell anyone that he saw her. The ruler of that time falls ill, and the only cure lies… in Shahmaran's body. The ruler's vizier searches everywhere for Shahmaran. Although Jamshab is determined not to reveal Shahmaran's location, the vizier forces him to speak. Shahmaran is dying, but before dying, she tells Jamshab to give the vizier the broth and the ruler the flesh when they kill her. Jamshab follows Shahmaran's instructions. He gives the vizier the broth, and the vizier dies. He gives the flesh to the ruler, and the ruler recovers.

The painter and printmaker separates his artistic outlook and journey into two separate stages. The first being influenced by Western art, which he interpreted through performances, paintings, printmaking, and wood carvings. Karavit's second stage is deeply affected by Chinese art and Buddhist philosophy, which is evident in his more recent works.
